Clinical Compendium
Welcome
The Biology of Leg Disorders® (BOLD®) Educational Initiative
is pleased to present its Clinical Compendium on Leg Disorders—Translating
Science Into Clinical Practice: A State-of-the-Art Reference.
This reference tool is designed to be a consolidated body of knowledge on the broad
spectrum of leg disorders and related comorbid conditions for primary-care physicians,
nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers who treat patients
with leg disorders.
The BOLD faculty, who are experts in the treatment and management of leg
disorders, have contributed their insight to this compendium in the form of clinical
commentaries and "pearls" for the clinician to consider and apply to practice as
appropriate. Additionally, the Preface offers prospectives from the primary-care,
nurse-practitioner, and pharmacist communities. These perspectives discuss the impact
of leg disorders on the respective disciplines and provide testimony to the benefits
this compendium will confer to clinical practice.
Viewing the compendium
To begin, review the Table of Contents for the disease state that interests you
and select the section(s) you would like to read.
Each section is available as a single PDF download. In addition, registered members
of LegDisorders.org can create customized versions of the compendium. Sections can
be added to "My Compendium" from either the Table of Contents or the detail page.
The PDF will be created in the order in which sections are added. The aggregate
PDF of the chosen sections will be available for download in the "My Briefcase"
area of LegDisorders.org. There is no limit to the number of customized files that
can be created.
The compendium also features a bookmarking tool. Click the "Save my position" link,
and the next time you return, click on the "Continue where I left off" link (above
the Table of Contents). This will allow you to start a new session in the compendium
at the last section you marked.
The compendium is organized as follows:
- For common disorders:
- Summary of disease states
- Overviews of clinically relevant literature presented as brief abstracts
- Expert faculty commentary on disease states and the clinical utility
of papers/studies
- For rare disorders:
- Summary of disease states
